A Comprehensive Guide to Wholesale Dates Prices in Malaysia

Kurma medjool Palestine

A price guide is only worth reading if it shows real figures, so this one uses them. Every price below comes from one Malaysian date wholesaler's live price list, checked on 27 October 2026. This site does not set those prices. They are a snapshot of what the trade was charging in October 2026, and they will move with stock and promotions.

Malaysia has no commercial date-growing trade, so every date sold here is imported. Because this site is named after Mazafati, the guide starts with the soft rotab packs and then moves on to the soft dates that were actually in stock by the 5kg pack this month.

What Mazafati is in trade terms

Mazafati comes from Bam, in Kerman province, Iran. It is a dark, very soft date with high moisture, and it needs refrigeration. In Malaysia it is also sold as "Rotab Mazafati Bam" and as "kurma madu". Rotab (rutab) is the soft, fresh-ripe stage of a date, and tamr is the fully ripe, drier stage.

Mazafati is cold-stored and sold year-round. That matters for pricing, because a wholesaler's rotab line can appear on the list in any month of the year.

The fresh-date listings on the October 2026 list

The wholesaler files five items under fresh dates. On the day of the check, four of them were out of stock. Only the Sukkary pack could be ordered.

Listing Pack Price (RM) RM per kg Stock
Rotab Mazafati AAA 12 × 600g (7.2kg) 86 11.94 Out of stock
Rotab BAM AAA 12 × 600g (7.2kg) 88 12.22 Out of stock
Rotab (no variety named) 12 × 600g (7.2kg) 90 12.50 Out of stock
Kurma Muda Palestine 5kg 125 25.00 Out of stock
Rotab Sukkary Premium 3kg 63 21.00 In stock

On paper, the Mazafati pack is the cheapest date by weight on the whole list. At RM11.94 a kilo it costs less than any of the other 56 date listings, whether in stock or not. It was also out of stock, so treat that figure as something to ask about, not something to plan a budget around. RM86 is a sale price. The regular price shown for the same pack is RM135.

The pack holds twelve 600g packets, so one order is 7.2kg of a date that needs refrigeration. Sort out the fridge space before you ask for a quote.

Sukkary, the soft pack that was in stock

Sukari (spelled Sukkary on this list) comes from Al-Qassim in Saudi Arabia. It is golden-amber and very sweet, and it is sold either soft as rutab or drier. The rotab pack is 3kg for RM63, or RM21 a kilo.

That is RM9.06 a kilo more than the Mazafati pack's listed price. The smaller pack keeps the outlay down, though: RM63 for the whole pack against RM86.

Other soft dates in stock, by price per kilo

When the rotab line is empty, three other varieties on the list are soft dates with 5kg packs in stock. The table gives the cheapest and the dearest in-stock 5kg pack of each.

Variety Origin Cheapest in-stock 5kg Dearest in-stock 5kg
Safawi Madinah region, Saudi Arabia A No.2 (Mini), RM80 (RM16/kg) Jumbo, RM195 (RM39/kg)
Ajwa Madinah, Saudi Arabia A No.1 (Small), RM115 (RM23/kg) VIP AAA, RM175 (RM35/kg)
Medjool listings labelled Palestine Premium Jumbo, RM280 (RM56/kg) Super Jumbo, RM315 (RM63/kg)

Safawi is longer than Ajwa, dark brown to black, soft and chewy. All five of its 5kg packs were in stock. Ajwa is small, roundish, near-black and soft. Only two of its seven 5kg listings were in stock, the two in the table. Medjool is large, very soft and has a rich caramel taste. The variety originated in Morocco, but the listings here are labelled Palestine. The Medjool Large 5kg pack (RM250) was out of stock.

Of these three, Safawi gives the lowest price per kilo, and the cheapest in-stock Safawi 5kg pack costs RM40 less per kilo than the cheapest in-stock Medjool 5kg pack.

Smaller buys in 1kg packs

Not every buyer wants 5kg. Six of the wholesaler's eight 1kg date packs were in stock, and the cheapest was Ajwa A at RM31. In the two pairs below, the 1kg pack costs more per kilo than the 5kg pack. The 1kg Ajwa A works out RM8 a kilo dearer than the 5kg Ajwa A No.1 pack (RM31 against RM23). The 1kg Safawi A at RM35 is RM16 a kilo above the 5kg Safawi A No.1 at RM19 a kilo.

How to read these prices

Every date listing on this list showed a sale price below its regular price, so the figures above are the lower, sale figures. Stock changes from week to week, and the rotab packs are the clearest example. Before ordering anywhere, ask for a current quote that names the variety, the grade and the pack weight, and compare it per kilo, not per pack.
